Open banking for debt advice

A real income and expenditure picture, fast

Help clients faster with an income and expenditure assessment built from their actual bank data, so advice is accurate and the appointment is shorter.

Building I&E by hand is slow

Most of an appointment can go on piecing together figures a client cannot fully recall.

Recall is unreliable

People rarely remember every regular cost.

Statements are a barrier

Asking for months of paperwork slows help.

Appointments run long

Manual I&E eats into time for advice.

Accuracy matters

The right advice needs the right numbers.

Why debt advisers use it

Accurate advice

Built on real figures, not estimates.

Shorter appointments

Less time on data, more on advice.

A fair assessment

The same clear picture for everyone.

Less admin

No chasing documents.

The data points that matter for debt advice

One connection surfaces exactly what you need to make a confident decision. See how it works.

Verified income, including benefits
Priority and non-priority spending
A clear disposable surplus
Arrears and existing commitments
A worked example

A client arrives anxious and unsure of their numbers. Instead of a long income and expenditure exercise from memory, one open banking connection builds an accurate picture, so more of the appointment goes on advice, not data entry.

Open banking for debt advice: FAQs

Does the client have to share their data?

No, it is always their choice. Where they do consent, it makes the assessment faster and more accurate, which usually means better advice sooner.

Does this replace the standard income and expenditure?

It populates it with real figures. You still apply your judgement and the relevant guidance, with far less manual collection.

Is open banking data secure, and who can see it?

Access is read-only under FCA authorisation and encrypted in transit and at rest. The customer consents to share specific accounts for a limited period, only debt advice working on the case see the result, and the customer can withdraw access at any time.
